What we aim  to achieve

At Robartes Junior School, we aim to provide a caring and stimulating learning environment, where the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs of each individual child can be developed at his/her own level, to enable him/her to reach his/her full potential No two children have the same particular needs, so we attempt to structure the daily organsation and the curriculum carefully to be able to best suit these differing needs.

The school sees its pupils as major agents in their own learning  and gives prominence to the need for a range of teaching and learning techniques designed to offer each individual child maximum opportunity to succeed.

We aim to provide a suitable balance between different methodologies and organisations throughout the school day. Whole class teaching is desirable at certain times during the day. Emphasis is placed on individual and group teaching as and when required. Pupils benefit greatly from working in small group situations. Working in this way encourages children to cooperate, to share ideas, to listen to one another and to appreciate and respect the contributions made by others in a group. Grouping according to ability, attainment and experience is a means by which teachers provide tasks to cater for the differentiation of work required by the pupils. Again, we aim to children an appropriate balance of working in mixed ability, ability and friendship groups. The criterion of choice must be fitness for purpose.
